Who is Fortuna? What is her role in sales?

Do you believe in Fortuna? The Roman goddess of luck and fortune. She was the one who could make or break your day with a spin of her wheel. She was also a daughter of Jupiter, the king of the gods, and like him, she could be very generous and bountiful to everyone.

Well, I had a chat with #salesmanager about a recent sales campaign that was a huge success. The #accountexecutive who closed the deal showed amazing resilience and perseverance. He faced many challenges and obstacles along the way, but he never gave up. He built strong relationships with his “champion” and other key decision-makers. We both agreed that his skills and attitude were the main reasons for his achievement.

But then we wondered: did Fortuna have anything to do with it? Was she secretly pulling some strings behind the scenes? Was the AE just lucky to be in the right place at the right time? Or did he make his own luck by working hard and smart?

My perspective is that luck is not something that happens to you, but something that you create. The AE did not rely on Fortuna’s whims, but on his own professional work. He prepared well, followed up diligently, and delivered value at every stage. He created the conditions that made him lucky. He earned the #salessuccess.

What do you think? Is sales success a matter of luck or work? Or both? How do you attract Fortuna’s favor? Or do you ignore her altogether? Share your thoughts in the comments below. 😊
